Safety and SecurityOur volunteers and childcare staff members are prepared to receive your child 15 minutes prior to worship services and other church-wide events. Under no circumstances should preschoolers be left in the room unattended.
It is important that children be picked up promptly following the completion of that service or event so that your child will not experience undue anxiety.
Security procedure Preschoolers should be brought to their class by a parent or adult guardian along with completed security information. Parents of preschoolers who have been entered into our computerized security system will be given picture i.d.’s of their child. Upon entering the preschool area parents will scan the i.d. to receive a security tag to be placed upon the back of the child. This security tag will provide necessary information on the child, their parents and any allergies or other notices. Parents should show the i.d. of the child in order to pick up the child at the close of the session.
Visitors who have not been entered into the computer will receive a three-part security tag at the welcome desk which will provide for the same level of security.
Parents should label all belongings such as diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, jackets, etc. First Baptist Church diaper bag tags are available upon request.
Vibrating Parent pagers are provided upon request at the Preschool Welcome Desk. Parents should sign their child's name beside the beeper number so that the parent can be contacted if needed. A light snack will be served to middle and older preschoolers during the Sunday school hour. Teachers should be notified of any allergies that children may have.
Parent departure: After you have followed all check-in procedures and placed your child into the care of his teacher, simply wave a quick good bye and continue on to your class or service. It is normal for for little ones to experience seperation anxiety but it normally does not last long and will become easier over time. If your child cries for an extended period of time, you will be paged. A nursing mothers room is provided on the preschool floor adjacent to the newborn room. Infectious Disease Guidelines:Upon the recommendation of the Committee on Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child with any of the following symptom should not be brought to the classroom.
If your child has attended a preschool session and should develop an infectious disease such as measles, mumps, chicken pox or strep throat please notify the Children’s Ministry Office immediately so that other parents can be notified.Click to Download: SafeWATCH Confidential Volunteer Application A completed application is necessary for anyone interested in volunteering in the children's ministry.
