Mission ProjectsLong RangeThe major, continuing Mission Project of the Senior Members of FBC is with the Statesboro Police Department that protects and serves the ciizens of our City. These men and woment are first responders whenever disasters or tragedies occur. To help keep the many unhappy events from negatively affecting the officers and their families the Senior Adult Ministry of FBC pays to send at least one police officer each year to the Law Enforcement Summit sponsored by the Southern Baptist Convention. It is here they will learn methods to help themselves and their fellow officers face the many serious problems threatening police officers and their families today. We also send the spouses of the police officers so they too may serve as a resource for other police spouses. These officers and their spouses are taught to access appropriate resources in the community that will help them to adequately address those life problems that can crowd into a family's life and be utterly devastating to them. Short Range The Senior Members of FBC have, since Hurricane Katrina, gone to the Gulf Coast to assist families in rebuilding their homes in New Orleans, LA, and Bay St. Louis, MS. Additionally, Senior Members have worked at other disaster sites and for organizations such as Samaritan's Purse in the Christmas Shoe Box Program.
