FBC Statesboro's Groundbreaking Ceremony
Sunday, July 18, 2010
- "Thank you for being a part of this historic day in the life of First Baptist Church Statesboro. The journey of faith for this congregation began in 1882, as a small group of believers joined together to form this church that has ministered and served in this community for the last 127 years. Today's Groundbreaking Service is another milestone that demonstrates God's leadership and blessing among us. In every corner of Bulloch County and throughout this region, there are hurting families needing to experience the love and grace of God, and out growing community is filled with people for whom Jesus gave His life. That is why we build a new sanctuary - to reach, love and serve the people all around us. This new building will be an excellent tool for ministry, and it will enable us to extend our ministry in new ways and the new heights. Thank you for being such a faithful and generous congregation that has a great vision for God and a great love for families."
- The worship celebration that morning saw the congregation gathered under a large white tent next to the site of the new sanctuary. The Celebration Choir sang, "The Glory of God" and the congregation sang a church-wide favorite, "Days of Elijah". David Brinson provided a solo during the offering time, singing "God is Faithful." Special guests included Mayor Joe Brannen, Mr. Frank Hook who is the Chair of the Facilities Leadership Team, Mr. Jody Stubbs who is the Chair of Financial Development Task Team, Jamee Cartee from the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce and representatives from RW Allen, the construction company on the project.
